Project Description:

The aim of the project is to encourage girls to increase their role in STEAM through the utilization of fashion. We aim to inspire girls to explore the world of STEAM through fashions, encouraging them to consider pursuing a career in STEAM fields: Fashion provides familiarity, creativity, and hands-on learning for girls in STEAM. We aim to utilize fashion as a means to encourage girls to explore their interests and actively engage in STEAM fields. We chose Fashion as the tool for STEAM engagement with girls, as it is one of the causes of environmental pollution and contributes to climate change. Fashion encompasses core disciplines such as material science, engineering, chemistry, maths, art and design and physics, which will expand their knowledge and expose them to a wide range of career opportunities. This project is primarily motivated by the goal of increasing the participation of girls in the STEAM field, aligning with the objectives outlined in the European Education Area and the 2030 strategic framework for education and training, DEADP 2021-2027 and 2050 climate goal.

Objectives:

·         To create and test a scientifically grounded, adaptable, and accessible STEAM education package tailored to the needs of teachers and girls, promoting STEAM participation and excellence.

·         To promote girls' interest, enhance their motivation, and encourage active participation in

STEAM fields by incorporating fashion.

·         To raise awareness among girls about the importance of STEAM through the integration of fashion.

·         To enhance students' competence in environmental sustainability by imparting a comprehensive set of knowledge, skills, and attitudes pertaining to climate change, fashion, and sustainable practices.

·         To empower girls to engage in STEAM careers and fostering their soft skills—critical thinking, creativity, design thinking, and problem-solving—through the integration of fashion.
